Luxury homes finished in style with Accoya doors and windows

The qualities of modified wood Accoya have led to it being used in bespoke joinery features of two luxury newbuild homes in the south of England.

The first property is based in Berkshire and received exterior facing doors made from Accoya as part of a tailor-made joinery package.

Accoya was selected as the ideal wood to use due to its insulating capabilities, dimensional stability, 50-year guarantee and aesthetic finish – both the architects and the owners felt the material tied in perfectly with the overall exterior appearance of the house.

In the second house, located in Winchester, Accoya was also the product of choice for the external doors and frames. Including bespoke bi-folding and French doors, the insulating properties and high durability of Accoya are said to make it the best wood product to withstand the changeable and often harsh UK weather.

SB Joinery, the company that delivered both projects, is a trained and certified Accoya user. The company’s sales director, Garth Matley said: “A large proportion of our windows and doors are manufactured in Accoya and we recommended this timber for windows, doors and external applications due to its outstanding properties. Accoya is a hassle-free timber.

“Accoya windows and doors stay in excellent condition and require very little maintenance. The homeowners were very happy with the final look their properties achieved with the addition of their bespoke Accoya windows and doors.”

Laura Keily, head of marketing for Accsys Technologies, added: “Accoya is a fantastic product to add the finishing touches to your home. Both of these stunning properties are great examples of the different types of doors and windows that can be made from one of the world’s most sustainable, resilient and best performing woods.

“Not only does the addition of the Accoya doors and windows really complement the overall appearance achieved by both properties, the homeowners can enjoy them knowing they will last for many years so come. We hope to see many more residential projects featuring Accoya in the UK in the near future.”
