Metsa workers decide against any action over pay

9 May 2014

Workers at three timber mills run by Metsa Wood have decided against taking any action over pay.

GMB members at the plants at Widnes in Cheshire, Boston in Lincolnshire and Grangemouth in Scotland were balloted over whether to take strike action or action short of a strike after unions claimed management had treated them with contempt.

But the majority voted against any strike action.

Metsa Wood makes skirting boards, timber rails, and decking for the likes of B&Q, Sello and Taylor Wimpey.

Supplies to customers have not been disrupted.
